FAQ's

1. Are you like a housecleaner?

No. A housecleaner specialized in getting a surface tidy and will often stash things in piles or behind doors or cabinets. We help you sort through belongings, create organized systems, and set up spaces that work for your daily life. While we do light tidying as we work (wiping down shelves when we organize them, for example), our focus is on decluttering, organizing, and creating systems that last. We also handle donation pickup and trash removal as part of our service. If you need deep cleaning after we organize, we're happy to recommend trusted local housecleaners who work well with our clients.  We get told by clients that after we've organized a home, their housecleaners say it is so quick to clean their home. 

2. What exactly am I paying for with downsizing services?​​

Great question! You're investing in years of expertise helping families find systems that help their home feel easy to manage.  We help you buy back your sanity adn the ability to breath easy again.  We handle the entire process — from sorting through a lifetime of belongings to coordinating donations, and moves.  We remove donations, trash and recycling the same day and know the correct phrasing to help reduce the stress during the process.

Most families find our fees are a fraction of what they'd spend on storage units, multiple family trips to help, or the emotional toll of trying to handle this sensitive process alone while managing other responsibilities.

3. What if family members disagree on what to keep?

If family members disagree on what stays and what goes, we err on the side of caution and it stays. We take time to talk through things and work hard to earn and keep your trust so that nothing leaves that you aren't ready to part with.

Oftentimes things that you thought you wanted to keep feel less important in a couple of weeks, but it's much more difficult to rebuild trust. If you want your family member to feel supported, trust their timing.

4. What if I am embarrassed by how bad it has gotten?

Don't worry!  We've seen it all.  We can help you ​no matter how far you are along the decluttering journey.  Though most people don't love decluttering, most are surprised when they find themselves getting better and more proficient at it after just a couple of visits. Many will tell me that they look forward to the time when I'm there because we build strong friendships and trust.
