Susan's Story
Susan had spent her final years caring for both her mother and mother-in-law through their end-of-life journey. When they passed, she inherited everything—clothes, china, crystal, even the car.
Standing in rooms filled with decades of belongings, Susan felt overwhelmed. How do you choose what matters most when everything holds a memory?
We helped her by asking a few gentle questions: "If you could only keep 5 items that represent each person, what would they be and why? What memories do you have of them using that item? Let's write those stories down."
These stories matter so much more than monetary value. No one needs boxes of sentimentals collecting dust in the garage.
For Susan, choosing her mother-in-law's delicate tea cup from New Zealand to display on her mantle wasn't just decluttering—it was honoring a legacy while creating space for her own life to continue.
